The countdown is on....

As strung out as we may get and as busy or as long as some days may seem I am actually really, really sad to say goodbye to summer.

Soaking up the last couple of days with good friends and good fun.

Alli and the kids came over to swim and play...
Here are the littles grabbing a snack!

This was the next day...SOOO much sunscreen.  She's a safety girl....Loads it on!
Shoving popcorn in her face!

Earlier in the week Patti & Tim asked us to let out and feed their sweet puppy, Lexi while they were out for the day.  Well...that was NOT sufficient for Annabelle....she insisted on bringing Lexi over for the day.  I will say, she did a great job for the three or four hours she was here!  She played with her and Bailey non-stop, hand fed her dinner, cooled her off with some water out back....It was very, very sweet!

Fast forward a few days and she insisted on starting her own business..well, three to be exact:
Pet Sitting
Party Planning
Problem Solving

Here's the flyer she made for biz #1 which she wanted to plaster across every park in the region because you know...that's where people with dogs go.....
While I appreciate her reasoning, I convinced her to start small and we dropped it in Miss Patti and Mr. Tim's mailbox.

Phrases she said today that I don't want to ever forget:

"Mom, what happens when business is booming?!"
"I'm going to focus on pet sitting first until I formulate a solid plan for problem solving"

Oh, there were more but I can't remember them right now...but seriously SO SO SO cute.

She set up an office in the living room and created an intake sheet for her first pet client.

I love her.

A little about the Problem Solving Business.... Sample problems people can ask for advice about:

"My three year old is crying all night, what do I do?"
Get earplugs

"My dog is parking all night, what do I do?"
Get earplugs

When asked about a problem that does not involve loud noises at night she responded with

"There are too many weeds in my lawn, what do I do?"
Start a weeding schedule.  Weed after breakfast on Monday.  Weed after lunch on Tuesday.  On Wednesday weed in the daytime, then by Sunday you shouldn't have weeds.  Don't be lazy.  Pull your weeds.

Back to our routine...and it's a good one!

Adam is FINALLY HOME!!!

We had family fun day in the pool this morning...awesome picture of those two at the bottom...

After Piper went down for her nap Annabelle and I got busy doing "Cereal Box Book Reports".  I remember doing one in grade school and always thought it was the coolest idea.  You cut paper to fit the sides and front/back of a cereal box.  Recreate the book title as the front of the cereal box....ingredients are the characters, some "fun facts" on the side, and a game on the back!  I believe I did this in 6th grade, so I think Annabelle's Pre-1st grade project is just splendid!!

 (she made me pose)

The Flying Annabelle!

First 1st Grade Project
Annabelle's new teacher sent out an email with a slide presentation about her and invited kids to make their own presentation and send back to get to know one another.  Annabelle was ALL OVER the assignment.  During nap yesterday she really enjoyed making a project ALL ABOUT HER...go figure...!!   I think she did a remarkable job.  I really only helped with locating files on the computer and saving pics from Google.  She may have surpassed my technical abilities at this point!

A lovely getaway!

For as wonderful as a trip we had, I sure didn't take the pictures to prove it!!  I think that's almost the mark of a successful vacation...too busy enjoying to take pictures!

We had an awesome time at Innsbrook...even though it rained each morning....Lots of board games, and reading and art and just hanging out.  Afternoons at the pool or in the Lake, then evening boat rides on our little lake.  All in all it was a fabulous family trip to catch up!  Both girls were SO well behaved and had a blast!!

The bathing suit... the goggles....the pony tails...the lake.
I think every family from every generation has this picture.
Every one!

Pips at the lake.  She just strolled right in to float in her floaties.
(Also too busy making sure she stayed above water to take pictures....)

On the way home in the morning we stopped to play at Alli's...
Piper and Lydia are now official BFF's.
Here's Pippa in Layla's boots...doing some laundry..!

Once we returned back to our house, Piper did her best ballet dance yet....
She has watched Annabelle's ballet recital practice video a mere 98 times...
The practice is paying off....
